Top Ten Creepy Clown Clusters of 2016
by Loren Coleman, author of The Copycat Effect
(New York: Simon and Schuster, 2004).

Following in the tradition of my clown list from 2008, my notes on evil clowns (and Joker copycats) for 2009, my documenting of real killer clowns in 2010, my list of evil clowns of 2011, similar weirdness in 2012, a compilation for 2013, and the creepy clown reports in California, countrywide in the USA & in France, ending us back in Aurora for 2014, and finally Top Ten Evil Clown Stories of 2015, here is my new “top ten” gathering of “creepy clown clusters” that occurred in the extraordinary Year of 2016.

First, let us reflect on 2016. No year since 1981 – when Phantom Clowns were sighted and then first discussed in book form via Mysterious America –  has there been such a multilayered, massive explosion of reports of clown accounts among the populace, first in America, and then worldwide.
The hints began in the Spring of ’16, overseas.

(1) Germany ~ February

The first unusual clown event of 2016 occurred in Kassel, Germany. Two activists in clown costumes disrupted a meeting of the German anti-migrant party Alternative for Germany by throwing a cake into the face of Beatrix von Storch, one of the party’s leaders and a European Parliament member. The men approached von Storch while she was presiding over a closed-door Alternative for Germany party meeting held in Kassel, Germany, on February 28, 2016. They sang “Happy Birthday” as one of them threw a cake into von Storch’s face and the other filmed the incident.
(2) Mexico ~ March

On the weekend of March 19-20, 2016, Tony Tambor, also known as Marco Antonio Vazquez, claimed he was repeatedly punched and kicked at a Sonora, Mexico party for 30 children, according to the Houston Chronicle. Tambor may lose his eyesight, according to the Mexico News Daily.

(3) Wisconsin ~ August

The largest wave of reports of clowns in recent history began in a small way in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in early August 2016. A mysterious clown that seemingly came out of someone’s warped sense of humor was spotted in Green Bay, according to photographs making the rounds of the social media. A Facebook page called “Gags – The Green Bay Clown” claimed the first sighting happened August 1, 2016, at 2:00 a.m.

By definition, these clowns were “stalking clowns.”

(4) Carolinas ~ August

“Phantom Clowns” soon popped up. On August 29, 2016, residents at the Fleetwood Manor Apartments in Greenville County, South Carolina, reported that a person wearing a clown costume had been spotted lurking around the apartment complex trying to convince children to come into the woods. This was followed quickly on September 4, 2016, when police in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, received a call about a clown looking to lure children into the woods. The Phantom Clown accounts then spread throughout the Carolinas. See also “Phantom Clowns in Greenville: Four Sightings,” “Phantom Clowns: Spartanburg,” “Phantom Clowns: Winston-Salem,” “Phantom Clowns: Two New Piedmont Triad Incidents,” “Phantom Clowns: Fayette Factor,” and “Phantom Clowns: High Point.”

These reports were classic “Phantom Clowns,” and did not seem to be real people dressing up as clowns, i.e. “Stalking Clowns.” See, “Phantom Clowns: Classified.”

(5) Ohio ~ August

Like dropping a pebble in a pond, the ripples of Phantom Clown sightings went out from the Carolinas. Ohio seemed to be hit first.

A knife-wielding clown reported in the Northland area might prove a hoax, but Columbus, Ohio, police say they aren’t taking any chances. A 14-year-old boy told police that a 6-foot-tall man in dark clothing and a clown mask chased him a short distance as he walked to a school bus stop at about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016, said police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner.  The boy told police that the incident occurred just before sunrise in his neighborhood, near Satinwood and Ironwood drives.

(6) Georgia and Alabama ~ September

Next, leaping from the Carolinas to Ohio, clown incidents turned up in Georgia and Alabama. On September 14, 2016, McDuffie County deputies in Georgia say Cameron Frails, 12, and his little brother, were walking to a bus stop when they were chased by men donning clown costumes. The next day, on September 15, 2016, authorities locked down Escambia County High School and Flomaton High School in Southern Alabama after clowns threaten students and post gun emojis on Facebook. So-called “Flomo Klowns” were spotted on the premises of both schools. On September 15, 2016, police in Flomaton, Alabama, arrest 22-year-old Makayla Smith and two underage accomplices in connection with the threats to students at Escambia County High School and Flomaton High School. A middle school girl in Athens, Georgia, was arrested on September 21, 2016, after bringing a knife into school. She claims it was for protection against clown attacks.

(7) United States ~ September

Creepy Clown Sightings Map 2016.

After the initial sightings, all kinds of encounters with clowns were reported throughout the United States, as can be seen from this summary or this one.

Sep. 19: Several children report a series of clown sightings in different neighborhoods of

Annapolis, Maryland

. Police later confirm the reports to be a hoax.
Sep. 21: A 12-year-old in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, is chased by a clown through a park.
Sep. 24: A Palm Bay, Florida, resident reports spotting two “killer clowns” while walking her dog. She says the clowns were staring at her and frightened her to the point that she called police after returning home.
      Sep. 25: A child in

Phillipsburg, New Jersey

, is chased by three people who emerged from the woods dressed as clowns. Nobody has been hurt in the town but it is the fourth such incident reported in the area. Residents plead with the troublemakers to stop their antics.
      Sep. 27:

Tennessee

officials put out a warning telling residents to be vigilant as Halloween approaches. One teenager reports being attacked by a clown.
      Sep. 27: Police in

Phoenix

say two different fast-food restaurants were robbed by suspects wearing clown masks.
      Sep. 30:

The New York Times

reports that false reports or threats in connection to sightings of “creepy clowns” have led to the arrest of

12 people in over 10 states

      .
Sep. 30: Threatening Facebook post from the account “Aint Clownin Around” leave at least five schools in three separate states on high alert. The post sent to students in students in

Westside High School in Houston

reads, “We will be at all High schools this Friday to either kidnap students or kill teachers going to they cars …”
By October, reports were coming in from Idaho, Alaska, California, Arkansas, and several other states.
(8) Worldwide ~ October
By mid-October 2016, clown sightings were being recorded in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Reports in the UK – in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland – called them “Killer Clowns.”
(9) USA ~ October
One of the major outcomes of the “Creepy Clown Epidemic” of 2016 was the temporary (?) retiring of Ronald McDonald.

On Tuesday, October 11, 2016, the McDonald’s Corporation acknowledged that it will henceforth be “thoughtful in respect to Ronald McDonald’s participation in community events” as a result of the “current climate around clown sightings in communities.” It became obvious that the overlap was not imaginary.

See also, “Precursor to Creepy Clowns: Ronald McDonald.”

(10) USA – 2016

An earlier indicator that “creepy clowns” were on the horizon happened in June 2015, and continued into early 2016, when front page clown images and political cartoons of Donald Trump appeared in New York City and other newspapers.
The number of clown-Trump visual jokes merely increased as the year went along.
The above meme was based on an infamous scene from Stephen King’s IT!

One last note.
The media’s many stories on the “Creepy Clown Epidemic” personally pulled me into the analysis long before any reporter interviewed me. Instead, the use of my 1981 work and coining of the phrase “Phantom Clowns” caused journalists to write about and quote me. See here and this brief overview.

Synchromystic Of The Year 2016: Joe Alexander

Back to the Future Predicts 9/11’s filmmaker Joe Alexander.

The Twilight Language is giving its Third Annual “Synchromystic Of The Year” Award to Joe Alexander on December 15, 2016. The annual honor is bestowed upon a deserving individual who has contributed to the broad dissemination of a better understanding of the objectives and goals underpinning the field of synchromysticism.

“Synchromysticism: The art of realizing meaningful coincidence in the seemingly mundane with mystical or esoteric significance.” ~ Jake Kotze, The Brave New World Order, August 18, 2006.

The filmmaker Joe Alexander produced Back to the Future Predicts 9/11 and released it via YouTube on July 27, 2015, under his moniker “barelyHuman11.” As of December 2016, it has been viewed over 2,997,000 times.

==============================

===============================

The Atlantic on the real October 21, 2015, which as a fictional date is well-known to Back to the Future trilogy students, observed:

A 12-minute video that’s making the rounds this week claims the 1985 film Back to the Future contains a coded message warning of the 9/11 attacks. The gist of this theory: Twin Pines mall, where one of the movie’s main characters is attacked by terrorists, is meant to represent the Twin Towers. (There’s also something about how film is a portal to transcendence.) The name of the group that made the video, Apophenia Productions, seems appropriate. Apophenia refers to the tendency to perceive a pattern among unrelated or random ideas or objects.

It is all about time, symbols, and foreshadowing.

Back to the Future Predicts 9/11 is a dizzying watch, full of big breath statements like, “Zemeckis, a pre-cogging conduit, channels the 9/11 archetype with his tower strike Twin Pines terror attack cinematic superimposition, both scenes featuring the transdimensional portal, pointing to 9/11 as the archetype of transcendence.”
…Short films like Back to the Future Predicts 9/11 are playful exercises in pattern recognition, searching out meaningful coincidences that they believe may emerge from a mystical, universal holism, ” writes Andrew Whalen in iDigital Times.
Whalen asked Alexander why he picked Back to the Future? The filmmaker answered:
I think it chose me to be honest. I think that these sub-plots, they wanted to be expressed on some level. We come back to intention, like in the way a human being has intention. Can a movie have intention? Can something that doesn’t seem to be conscious have intention? I think it can because it’s ultimately tied to the infinite consciousness of the universe.
Joe Alexander has something to tell the sync community about the future, and does it through his examination of the continuum in Back to the Future and events that occurred after the movies of the trilogy appeared. As far as documentary movie-making goes, Back to the Future Predicts 9/11 joins treatments like Rodney Ascher’s Room 237 (2013) and Jake Kotze’s videos to form a growing body of sync-comparative works.
Alexander’s 2015 film talks of 2001’s 9/11, as well as about events that were predicted in Back to the Future‘s films for 2015. But when some of the “predictions” appeared to be potential failures for 2015 – like the Cubs winning or Trump’s president run – they turned into successes in 2016.
That is why Alexander gets the award for 2016.

Alexander’s other videos (see here, here, and here) are all worthy of your time, also.

The notion that Donald Trump’s presidential run and election were foretold in the Back to the Future films has a solid foundation.

Andrea Mandell ‘s USA Today article of October 21, 2015, “Believe it: ‘Back to the Future’ predicted Trump’s run,” relates the facts. Mandell reports, “Back to the Future II screenwriter Bob Gale told theDaily Beast that Marty McFly’s arch nemesis, the wealthy villain Biff Tannen, who turns his fortunes (among them, casino) into a quest for political power was…based on The Donald.”

In the 1989 sequel, Biff uses the profits from his towering casino to help shake up the Republican Party, before eventually assuming political power himself. In what becomes a lawless, dystopian wasteland, Biff encourages every citizen to call him “America’s greatest living folk hero.” Source.

As seen below, the Comedy Central’s At Midnight dealt with the thin line between humor and the unknown unknown shown in Back to the Future Predicts 9/11. The host’s podium mirroring the Twin Towers was hardly subtle.
Therefore, Joe Alexander, besides creating a thoughtful, enjoyable film and other videos about the synchromystic side of Back to the Future’s “predictions,” has had an impact, in 2016, beyond his one contribution. He caused ripples through the sync world every time anyone watched Back to the Future and other films. Thanks to him for showing us what he sees.
Congratulations to Joe Alexander, the Synchromystic Of The Year 2016!

And now, for 2016, Joe Alexander.

Red Dawn Alert ~ Full Moon on Summer Solstice: Shooting Spree, Assassination, or Quake Coming?

 (excerpt: Twilight Language)

Sources repeating the Farmer’s Almanac say it was the Algonquin First Peoples, but I find the Anishnaabe (Ojibwe) and the Sioux are the peoples who call the June full moon, “The Strawberry Moon.” In Europe, it is referred to as “The Full Rose Moon.”

The June full moon is symbolically “red” because that is when certain crops are seen, not because the June moon is scarlet in the sky. But this twilight language in the name is significant.

In the Northern Hemisphere, 2016’s full moon happens to fall on the same day as the first day of summer, the summer solstice.

Strawberries are red. Roses are red. This year, the June full moon, traditionally said to be red, will become full at dawn. A red dawn. Readers of this Twilight Language blog know that the hidden message of “red dawn” is about pivotal violent situations.

For example, in July 2012, the Aurora, Colorado shooting was a “red dawn,” a milestone awakening event. Colorado means “red,” and Aurora means “dawn.” Later in December 2012, in Newtown/Sandy Hook, Connecticut, that “red dawn” event included the actual killing of a Dawn.

In 2016, the June Full Strawberry Moon is at its peak fullness near dawn, at 7:02 AM Eastern Daylight Savings Time, on Monday, June 20. The exact time for the solstice is 6:34 PM EDT. Almost three hours later, the full moon will rise in the East on Monday at 8:10 PM EDT.

Will mass shootings, assassinations, mental health outbursts, suicides, murder-suicides, volcanoes, and earthquakes visit some people on June 20-21, 2016?

One astrologer, Timothy Halloran of the Rasa Lila Healing network, said on 6.16.16, that the alignment of the full moon and solstice will bring about “madness, hallucinations and delusions of grandeur.”

Also, Halloran is reported to have said: “People do go on shooting sprees.”

The video [is] called Full Moon in Sagittarius, June 16 2016 – Psychic Warfare and Crusading.
In it he said: “Words such as enlightenment and illumination generally are perceived as being wonderful and pleasant things that we should strive for and desire to achieve.
“Yet the light is piercing, and it is hot, and it can be unbearable at times, particularly for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere during the Summer Solstice, when the Sun scorches down and we have our longest day of the year.
“Coinciding with this celestial event (a day before) we have a Full Moon at the final degree of Sagittarius square to Chiron.
“He said at the time Mercury would activate a ‘mutable grand cross between Saturn, Jupiter and a stationed retrograde Neptune’.
He said: “To Say that this is a stable time to be awake and aware would be a lie.
“The transitioning occurring now is like a giant wave crashing onto the shore of our own perspectives and beliefs, scattering debris everywhere, and in so doing also ripping a hole through the veil; Exposing a reality we never knew existed underneath.”
In a rambling 40-minute video, Mr Halloran said: “We are in the closing square. This is when this s***t starts to fall apart.
“This is what is may going on with this full moon in Sagittarius, the ripping away of veils “This is a critical time energetically. This is a time when people go off the deep end, people lose control.” More, read here.

Unicorns, Astronauts, and Oscars Gold

 ( excerpt: Twilight Language )

The unicorn is a legendary animal that has been described since antiquity as a beast with a large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead. The unicorn was depicted in ancient seals of the Indus Valley Civilization and was mentioned by the ancient Greeks in accounts of natural history by various writers, including Ctesias, Strabo, Pliny the Younger, and Aeolian.

An escaped “unicorn” gave authorities a run for their money on Wednesday [February 24, 2016]. Sandra Boos [a photographer doing a photo shoot] — and the California Highway Patrol — spent more than three hours chasing her runaway pony, who was outfitted with a unicorn horn, through orchards and roads in California. Source.

Golden coins known as the unicorn and half-unicorn, both with a unicorn on the obverse, were used in Scotland in the 15th and 16th century. The unicorn was a gold coin that formed part of Scottish coinage between 1484 and 1525. The obverse of the coin shows a crowned unicorn. The significance is that the unicorn is one of the heraldic symbols of Scotland, occurring most notably in the royal coat of arms of Scotland as crowned and chained supporters.

The [Unicorn] tapestries show pagan and Christian symbolism. The pagan themes emphasize the medieval lore of beguiled lovers, whereas Christian writings interpret the unicorn and its death as the Passion of Christ. The unicorn has long been identified as a symbol of Christ by Christian writers, allowing the traditionally pagan symbolism of the unicorn to become acceptable within religious doctrine. The original pagan myths about The Hunt of the Unicorn refer to an animal with a single horn that can only be tamed by a virgin; Christian scholars translated this into an allegory for Christ’s relationship with the Virgin Mary. Source.

When a Unicorn is portrayed along with a lion it Symbolizes the Union of the feminine (white, lunar) and masculine (Gold, solar) aspects of our dual nature. This Symbolism also represents the Alchemical Marriage. Source.

“God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.”–Numbers 24:8
Looking to Christopher Knowles’ Secret Sun, there’s this:

The Egyptians not only adopted the custom of burying the dead from the Sumerians they also adopted the reverence for gold, calling it “the flesh of the gods.” Some believe it was associated with immortality in the ancient world since it doesn’t rust or corrode (which explains an association or symbolism, but nothing more) Gold’s chemical symbol Au, comes from the Latin Aurum, meaning “Shining Dawn.”
As in Aurora.

Immortality. As in Jesus Christ?

Readers of this blog are well aware of my past writings about “Aurora” and “Red Dawns.”

We have two immediately forthcoming events to watch.

First up, on Sunday, February 28, 2016, The 88th Academy Awards. The “theme” of the Oscars this year, in the wake of criticisms that not enough AfricanAmericans were nominated, is “We All Dream In Gold.”

Gold on black looks regal. And the faces that are now on these ads are 35% AfricanAmericans, even though the Oscars will probably NOT be won by any Africans and AfricanAmericans.

One of the movies nominated for the Best Picture is The Martian.

Should we look to space too?

Next up is SuperTuesday, March 1, 2016. Will the primary install “Mars Red” as the new “Red Dawn” for the Republican Party?

Will Mars, the Red Planet, be on the minds of the media?

Outer space is going to be discussed in the midst of the wall-to-wall coverage of politics on the 1st, probably, because of one event.

March 1st is the date that NASA American astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko return to Earth from the International Space Station. Kelly is the first American to spend a year in space.

Scott and Mark Kelly

Why all the attention to Scott Kelly? He is pivotal to two longterm studies. One is of him and his twin, Mark Kelly, a retired NASA astronaut. Scott and Mark Kelly were born February 21, 1964.

February 21st is Ferālia, an ancient Roman public festival celebrating the Manes (Roman spirits of the dead, particularly the souls of deceased individuals). It fell on February 21 as recorded by Ovid in Book II of his Fasti. This day marked the end of Parentalia, a nine-day festival (February 13-21) honoring the dead ancestors.

A tradition associated with Ferālia (and thus February 21) is that one of the informed nymphs, Lara, could not hold her tongue and warned Juturna to flee. In addition, she approached Jupiter’s wife Juno, saying, “Your husband loves the Naiad Juturna.” As a result, Jupiter rips out Lara’s tongue in anger and summons Mercury to escort her to be a nymph in the Underworld. During this mission, Mercury becomes lustful of Lara and rapes her, begetting twins. These twins become the Lares, the guardians of intersections who watch over the city of Rome. Considering this is the birthday of the Kelly twins, it is an intriguing coincidence.

Mark Kelly is the husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was the victim of a Tucson, Arizona, assassination attempt on January 8, 2011 (where six people were killed), by Jared Lee Loughner. Before the shooting, Loughner expressed “anti-government” beliefs, such as the notion that the government was creating “infinite currency” without the backing of gold, and the assertion that NASA was faking spaceflights. conspiracy theories had a profound effect on Loughner, particularly the online film Zeitgeist: The Movie, with which friends claimed Loughner held an obsession. He was a member of the message board Above Top Secret, which discusses conspiracy theories; members of the site did not respond warmly to his posts. Loughner espoused conspiracy theories about the 9/11 attacks, the New World Order, and beliefs in a 2012 apocalypse, among other controversial viewpoints.
The second study with which Scott Kelly is involved: The Mission to Mars.

This mission — which began with a launch last March — is all about Mars.
“I think we’ll learn a lot about longer-duration spaceflight and how that will take us to Mars someday,” Kelly said Thursday [February 25, 2016] in his final news conference from orbit. “So I’d like to think that this is another of many steppingstones to us landing on Mars sometime in our future.”

* * *
Mars expeditions planned for the 2030s will last 2½ years; the anticipated crew size will be four to six. The astronauts will almost certainly have to grow some of their own food; that’s the reason for an experimental greenhouse aboard the space station.

Tabloid Prez 2016

The tabloids seem to be competing with each other for most comedic but biting politically-related headlines during this presidential cycle. Whereas the traditional definition of tabloid journalism is of a style of journalism that tends to emphasize topics such as sensational crime stories, astrology, ufology, celebrity gossip, sports scandals, and junk food news, the current media have loved mostly the Trump, as their source. The following examples reflect what political news has become during the race for the White House for 2016.

The UK newspapers have gotten involved.
But the American press has been routinely editorial in their headlines.
Some critiques of Trump have been fact-based, but of little effect.
Ted Cruz has not been immune.
Of course, in the past, the tabloids have been the source of political commentary of the alien kind. I have not seen that this cycle, yet.
