israel denounces the UN decision to probe Israel’s Gaza actions

DEBKAfile

The decision by the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva to probe Israel’s actions in Gaza on the day that 80 Palestinian rockets were fired at the Israeli population was a “travesty,” said the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. This is “a kangaroo court” whose actions are predetermined. The Council acted in response to charges of war crimes brought against Israel by the Palestinian Authority at the initiative of its Chairman Mahmoud Abbas

France Announces 11 Million Euros in Aid for Gaza

W460

President Francois Hollande announced on Thursday an 11-million-euro ($14.8 million) aid package to the besieged Gaza Strip, where an Israeli military offensive has left more than 700 people dead.

An advisor to Hollande said the humanitarian aid, eight million of which will be given to the Palestinian Authority and the remainder to U.N. bodies and NGOs working in Gaza, was approved after a meeting with non-governmental organizations working in the strife-torn region.

The NGOs “highlighted the gravity of the situation, the scale of the humanitarian needs of the civilian population and the difficulty of humanitarian workers in getting to the victims,” Hollande’s office said.

Hamas are the true occupiers in Gaza

Toronto, Caracas, Paris, London, Norway, Peru, Turkey. Processions and demonstrations against Israel and its operation in Gaza, of varying degrees of violence, are being held all over the world. Protesters call upon us to “end the siege”, “end the horrors”, “end the operation”, “end the occupation.”

The protesters are a mixed bunch. Some are Arabs, some radical leftists. The Arabs’ interest is obvious: they want to destroy us because we are not Muslims. The current operation in Gaza, which will postpone the current attempt to destroy the Zionist entity, disrupts the master plan of a heretic-free zone. Any hit sustained by the terror organizations which are trying to murder us, kidnap us and frighten us is a setback to their dream. They know, as does any other Muslim on the face of the planet, that it is not about human rights; that this is only an excuse. The true goal is jihad, and any method on the way to that victory – military, political, democratic or terrorist – is legitimate.

This we already know. More and more people around the world can also see that this is not a territorial fight but rather a religious one. That is why the speech given by the commander of the Givati Brigade last week was so relevant. He, his soldiers, and all of the soldiers of the Israeli army are fighting in the name of Our Lord. So are the enemy soldiers.

What’s more interesting is the radical left that is a partner and initiator of some of these demonstrations. There is a level of naivety and beauty to it (some readers may be surprised, but I sympathize with some of their motives). The radical left sympathizes with the weak and is willing to fight and make sacrifices for them. It’s not easy to go to a protest, it’s uncomfortable and often comes at the expense of something else. But they do it; they write signs, they bring a megaphone, they are willing to get beaten up by police officers and to inhale tear gas for benign human principles.

Identifying with the underdog is a relatively new Western phenomenon. At one time, we used to identify – automatically – with the winning side. The Biblical commandments which tell us to take care of the weak, the stranger, the orphan and the widow were written because it is not an automatic reaction. Taking care of the weak is not a given.

But then where does this desire to protect the weak come from? Kindness? Fear that one day it could happen to you? Guilt? These answers have some truth to them. But the knee-jerk sentiment of supporting the weak is wrong, superficial and frankly stupid. What I would give to have these protesters stop and think before they hit the pavement, with some hot-headed girl (it’s always a girl, right?) incapable of rhyming yelling the same tired slogans. They should stop and think about one question for just a moment: does being weak equal being right?

The fact that the Palestinians don’t have a strong army, the fact that they are not beating us, does not make them moral, just, or having a right to the land. The fact that we are bombing them from the air does not make their claim stronger. There needs to be a clear division: are they weak? Yes. Is the Palestinian population in Gaza suffering? Yes. Is what they’re doing moral? Definitely not. Are they in the right? There isn’t a hint of justice to their claims.

What do the Arabs in Gaza want? They want us gone. That is what they learn in their books and that is what they pray will happen. That is why they are bombing our citizens. The fact that we manage to defend ourselves does not make us the “villain”. It only makes us alive. For some people in the world, that is reason enough for punishment, boycotts and sanctions.

The fact that more citizens have died in Gaza than in Israel is a fact. God help us if it was the other way around. The poor Gazans could have stopped what they refer to as “slaughter” a long time ago. They can stop it at any moment, and in fact, they shouldn’t have started it in the first place.

Demonstrations around the world, if things were seen as they really are, would turn against Hamas, which is the real and absolute villain in this story.

We left Gaza. With sadness and pain, we were torn away from a populated, blossoming strip of land. We gave every last grain of sand to the Arabs, including the Philadelphi Route, which connects Gaza and Egypt and the north of the Strip. Don’t let them tell you anything about the “occupation”. There is no occupation in Gaza. There is no siege. We continue to send them, even today, medicine and equipment. The only occupation is by Hamas, which is an absolutely immoral occupation. The residents of Gaza need the help of an enlightened and humanistic world which is willing to sacrifice time, energy, and money to help them be free of this terrible occupation, and help lead them onward to a better life. We are definitely willing to help.

Israel Miracle? Gaza Strip Hamas Complain, ‘Their God Changes The Paths Of Our Rockets In Mid-Air’

23 July 2014, 08:51

Headlines in Israel claim miracles are protecting the Jews during the Gaza Strip ground war, with one headline proclaiming that Hamas terrorists are complaining about God changing the direction of rockets in mid-air.In a related report by The InquisitrHamas leader are worth millions of dollars and critics claim they have been skimming money from donations. The issue of donations also came up in regards to the support provided to the Gaza Strip by Israel since the Hamas tunnels were built with cement provided by the government.

As the Gaza ground war has heated up, there has also been a surge of anti-Israel demonstrations which have turned into chaos where looting and car burning has taken place. The war in Gaza has caused some to question whether Israel has the right to defend itselfand its citizens, with Hamas clearly answering “no” to that question.

United States Secretary of State John Kerry publicly supported “Israel’s right to defend itself against rockets that are continuing to come in” but when Kerry was caught talking on an open mic he was heard complaining, “It’s a hell of a pinpoint operation — hell of a pinpoint operation. We’ve got to get over there. We ought to go tonight. I think it’s crazy to be sitting around.”

If you go by the headlines of local newspapers in Israel, the Jews under attack by Hamas rockets have another hidden defense: God himself. The Jewish Telegraph opens with a quote from David Ben Gurion, who once said, “In Israel, in order to be a realist, you must believe in miracles.” The article claims that even the Hamas have become frustrated with Israel’s miracles:

“[T]he Talmud Yerushalmi tells us that in no way are we to depend on miracles. It argues that we must not desist from our obligations and must not wait for miraculous intervention from the Supernatural. How perfectly relevant are both of these views today. We witness hourly miracles. As one of the terrorists from Gaza was reported to say when asked why they couldn’t aim their rockets more effectively: ‘We do aim them, but their God changes their path in mid-air.’ Amen! And when our God is not busy doing that, He is ensuring that the high-tech brain power of our ‘start-up nation’ is working overtime to produce yet another Iron Dome battery to help protect our cities and us.”

The theme of miracles protecting Israel during the Gaza war is not limited to this newspaper. Another news source called Arutz Sheva reported earlier in the month the importance of miracles to the Jewish people:

“The Jewish nation’s existence for six millennia is a miracle. There is no single Jewish life without a miracle. Miracle is an essential part of our belief; it is a gem of Jewish folklore. It is a source of our hope in the dark, and it is a gift of our dreams. And we know why – because these miracles are true.”

As evidence for these miracles, the writers related the story of how a Jewish woman gave birth to triplet boys in the time frame when the three Israeli boys were killed near the beginning of this Gaza conflict.

What do you think about the reports of miracles in Israel and the claim that God is changing the path of Hamas rockets?

FAA Shuts Down All US Flights To Israel

Anticipating an imminent ban by the FAA of all U.S. flights to Israel, Delta, United, and US Airways each canceled all outbound flights to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport until further notice.

Delta Flight 468, one of its two daily Boeing 747 non-stops from New York’s JFK to Tel Aviv was diverted to Paris early Tuesday after reports that a Hamas rocket had fallen near Israel’s main international gateway at Ben Gurion Airport.

Around 12:00 p.m. EST Tuesday, the FAA imposed a ban on all U.S. Airlines’ flights to Israel following the Hamas attack which resulted in shrapnel from the downed rocket hitting a private home in the town of Yahud, which borders airport land.

Full details of the FAA’s ban have not yet been released. However, no suggestion has been made at this time that the unprecedented decision resulted from a political directive from either the White House or State Department to increase U.S. pressure on Israel to accede to its demands for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. Israelis believe such a move would leave Hamas’ capability to resume its terror war upon Israeli civilians intact.

The impact of an official American ban on travel to Israel could have devastating effects upon the Jewish state’s economy and connection with the outside world.
